Approach
I'm the therapist you go to when you're done being stuck; when you want someone authentic and genuine to assist you in developing the tools you need to be effective in achieving your goals. I believe in creating a strong therapeutic relationship that works for you and with you. I operate from a trauma-informed lens, taking into account multiculturalism, spirituality, race, gender and sexual identity, military service, and all of the other intersections of your identity. Let's talk about you and the drivers of ineffective behaviors - shame, guilt, fear, to name a few - that are holding you back.
Working with me will most likely involve some form of CBT or DBT work. I like goal setting with my clients so that we can track progress, growth, and make changes to our treatment if needed. If requesting training, supervision, or an immigration evaluation, please know I provide the same level of quality, collaboration, and attention to detail that I do my therapy clients.
For those seeking supervision, consultation, or clinical trainings: I am a Washington state approved social work supervisor and a Lecturer at the University of Washington, School of Social Work.
About me
I identify as mixed Filipina-White and am “from” many places including Los Angeles, Houston, and Brooklyn before arriving in Seattle. I am passionate about meeting the needs of teens, especially those who struggle with trauma histories, stress management, bicultural stress, or the intersectional challenges of queer youth of color.
I have worked across the lifespan and have experience in community mental health clinics, residential settings, private practice, school based counseling, and a trauma-focused specialty clinic. I am an Albert Schweitzer Fellow for Life and am committed to meeting the mental health needs of at-risk youth.
I believe in the importance of self-care and when I’m not at work you can find me in the kitchen trying new recipes, watching sports (Storm, Kraken, or Team Philippines roller derby), or chasing my toddler around the house while planning our next adventure.
Training
I have advanced training in Trauma-Focused Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (TF-CBT) after completing a fellowship in child trauma through the National Child Traumatic Stress Network (NCTSN). I am a Strong Star Network Provider in Cognitive Processing Therapy (CPT) serving veterans and military families. I am also trained in Accelerated Resolution Therapy (ART) for trauma.
I completed intensive training in Dialectical Behavior Therapy (DBT) through Behavioral Tech. I have also been trained in DBT for Adolescents (DBT-A), DBT Prolonged Exposure (DBT-PE) for trauma, and DBT for Substance Use Disorder (DBT-SUD).
Additionally, I have studied shame and guilt with Dr. Brené Brown, and am familiar with her work The Daring Way. I am also certified in the PEERS Social Skills curriculum for teens.
